Greetings again from Galveston, Texas. After spending Monday and Tuesday sheet rocking our group moved to Central United Methodist Church today. At Central we spent the day preparing shower facilities for the large number of volunteers that the church houses. We did roofing, framing, shower assembly and various other tasks during our time there today. On Thursday we get back to sheet rocking and then we will spend one more day working on Friday.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
Greetings from Galveston, TX where College Life and Young Adult ministry are on a mission trip. Seventeen young adults and college students arrived safely in Galveston Sunday night. We spent our first day working at a families home doing sheet rock (drywall) work. (See pics below) We will be spending a few more days finishing the sheet rock and painting. It looks like we will start gutting out some homes later in the week.
We will try to write a few more blog posts while we are in Galveston. Continue to pray for us as we continue to show the love of God to those whose lives have been drastically altered by Hurrican Ike.

This week I’m blogging to spread the word about Justice Jam, a benefit concert featuring Waterdeep. John Shirley from The Gathering will lead worship, and Rob Morris, co-founder of Love146, will explain how the organization works to fight child sex slavery and exploitation. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door.
You can check out the Facebook event and help spread the word by inviting your friends to the concert!

Attending a Serving God Learning Community is an awesome way to meet other young adults, while taking a look at how you can use your spiritual gifts. Also if you’re looking to get into a small group, Learning Communities are a great way to get a group started. In just the last few months, 6 new young adult small groups have formed by going through a Learning Community!
The next learning community, Serving God, will be offered on Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:30am, and evenings, 6:30-8:30pm, starting January 14, 2009.
For more information and to register go to www.cor.org/lc.
Join us after the 10:45am worship services for lunch and a discussion of Pasor Adam Hamilton’s sermon series “When Christians Get It Wrong.” This series explores some of the reasons many young people across the nation are avoiding church and looks at some of the information from David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons’ book unChristian. Cost is $10 per person per session and includes a catered lunch. You can register at www.cor.org/lunch.
Time: Meet between 6 and 6:30. We will help the residents to their seats so get there as soon as you can.
Where: The Greens at Creekside (Blueridge & Wornall)
What: We will be singing Christmas songs (feel free to make some suggestions). If the residents are up to it, we will play games with them afterward.
It was an awesome weekend for Resurrection Young Adults! We had our very first Christmas Sweater Party, which produced some amazing Christmas outfits. Check out some of the outfits below.
This weekend was the Hillcrest Transitional Housing Open House for their newest facility. Over the past several months, dozens of young adults at Resurrection have put in a lot of hard work into this facility. It was really cool to see some of the apartments finished and ready to house residents. A group will be going back to Hillcrest on Dec. 20 to work on finishing up a couple more of the apartments. Let me know if you’re interested in serving there!
