Our next Young Adult Get Together is this Saturday, October 25. We’ll meet at 5pm in Parking Lot C at the church (that’s the southeast lot near Roe Ave) to carpool to the Liberty Corn Maze. This is the “largest corn maze in Missouri” with several miles of paths throughout the 4 mazes in one. Weather Saturday should be cool and clear, but all the rain these next few days will make the maze pretty muddy – be sure to dress with that in mind!

We’ll spend about two hours navigating the maze, and then head to a restaurant for a late dinner. This will be a great way to enjoy the fall weather and connect with other young adults. See you there!

Hello Resurrection Young Adults!  I want to let you know that I (Nathan) will be gone for the next few weeks on a mission trip to South Africa.  I’ll be leaving this week and won’t be back until November 8.  Angela will be blogging while I’m gone and keeping you all informed on what is going on for young adults at Resurrection.  I would really appreciate your prayers while I’m gone!

Also, during your prayer time, I want to remind you that our daily GPS guide is available via email.  You can sign up to receive the GPS every morning.  I, like you, sometimes struggle with remembering to spend time in daily prayer and scripture reading.  So, receiving the GPS in my inbox every morning is a huge help!  If you would like to receive the GPS every day, then you can sign up here.

Thanks, in advance, for all your prayers while I’m in Africa!  I’ll see you in a few weeks!

I want to say thanks to all of you who came to check out the first Vibe service last Sunday!  It was an awesome worship experience and I look forward to making that my regular time to worship.  If you didn’t get a chance to check it out, I highly recommend giving it a try some Sunday.

I also want to remind you that we’ll be serving at two different locations this Saturday, partnering with FaithWork.  We’ll be serving at two of our regular places: Hillcrest Transitional Housing and Central UMC Soup Kitchen.  If you’re looking for a way to help the community, then this is a great opportunity.  We’ll meet at 9am in the Narthex of our West Building and work till about 12:30 or so.  If you know that you’re going to come serve, then shoot me an email at nathan.webb@cor.org.  If you don’t get around to sending an email, feel free to show up anyway.

The Vibe

I’m very excited to invite everyone to check out the new Vibe Worship Service, starting on October 12 at 10:45 in the Student Center. Vibe is a new weekly worship experience for people of all ages. This worship service will be edgy, casual, and contemporary, designed to reach non-religious and nominally religious people and help them to become deeply committed Christians.

Doors will open at 10:30 am with coffee and goodies available in the cafe area, while the band offers a softer musical background for conversation and connection. The music, lights, and production level brighten up as we begin praise and worship around 10:45 am. One of the elements unique to the Vibe worship experience will happen following the message (delivered on the video screens), where people will be invited to respond through different options: an offering to share our gifts and tithes in response to God’s grace and love, singing in praise along with the Vibe band, and moving through creative stations around the room designed for people to respond to God in creative ways.

I hope to see you all at Vibe!

It’s 11:11pm on the first day of the Leadership Institute, and it has been quite the first day!  I have been able to connect with dozens of leaders from all over the country.  The pre-institutes all seemed to go really well and tonight’s session was great!  My prayer is that connections will continue to be made and that people will be blessed and encouraged the final day of the conference.

If you’re an attendee of the Leadership Institute and you were directed to our blog via the conference, thanks for stopping by!  Feel free to look around and make comments!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather today!  It’s finally beginning to feel like Kansas in October!

I wanted to write a quick blog to ask for everyone’s prayers and support as we will be hosting around 1600 church leaders for our annual Leadership Institute.  Please keep our guests travel in your prayers.  Also keep our staff and volunteers in your prayers as we try to help equip other church leaders to better lead in their churches!

I’ll be presenting to approximately 50 people in a workshop on the subject of, “Young Adult Ministry: What Young Adults Really Want Out of Church.”   I would most definately appreciate your prayers for that!

Peace!
