David Kinnaman heads up the Barna Group - a research firm focused on spirituality.  He and co-author Gabe Lyons studied young adults ages 16 to 29 and found that 40% of this age group were disaffected from the church.  They went on to study this group of disaffected young adults in more depth, and their findings are captured in unChristian.  If you are interested in reaching your friends and other young adults, this book is a must read.

We’ve invited David Kinnaman to speak on the book and the research behind it on Tuesday, September 23 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  in the Student Center at Resurrection. He’ll speak for an hour, then answer questions for 30 minutes.  Then we’ll invite you to sit around a table with other leaders, to discuss how we can more effectively reach out to this group.

Contact angela.lavallie@cor.org for more info or to reserve your spot.

This Friday night, the 12th, bring your A Game to Room 221 of the East Building for Game Night.  We’re going to be playing games and eating food with Senior Adult Ministries at Resurrection.  So, bring some food and be prepared for some intense competition!

You’ll have the opportunity to hang out with other young adults, but will also have the opportunity to hang out with some adults in a different life stage.  It’ll be a great way to bridge some gaps, while having fun doing it….and the food will be AMAZING!  See you Friday night!

I constantly get young adults asking me the question, “What kind of Bible studies or small groups do you guys offer?”  So, I thought I would share with everyone my answer to this question…

Alpha is a great place to start!  Alpha is a course that I faithfully go to and lead groups, because I fully believe in it.  Alpha is a 10 week course and it starts at Resurrection on Sep. 8.   You will be able to grow a great deal, while meeting other young adults!  You can register at www.cor.org/alpha

The next step, after checking out Alpha, is go through a Learning Community.  Learning Communities are 6 week classes that center around knowing, loving, and serving God.  These classes start at Resurrection on Sep. 7.  You will be grouped with other young adults at your tables. You can register at www.cor.org/lc

The next step is our Group Life Ministry.  Group Life ministry is the place where people can commit to long term small groups together.  After going through Alpha and Learning Communities, this is the next place to go deeper in your faith.  We’ll equip you with great “young adult friendly” curriculum and help get you started doing life together.  For more information on this ministry, go to www.cor.org/smallgroups.
