July 2008

For the next Young Adult Get Together, our team is planning on doing a 90’s Night.  For this night, we will have music, games, food, trivia, and other things that represent all that is the most wonderful decade of all time…the 1990’s.

More details will be put up on the web/blog soon, but I’m wanting to start getting some music suggestions now.  So, what are your favorite 90’s songs or some of your favorite 90’s artists?  I’m looking for secular and/or Christian suggestions.

Comment on this post, and I’ll be looking at it regularly to put together a song list for the night.  I’m looking forward to hearing suggestions…

In the words of Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch (c. 1991):

“Vibrations good like Sunkist
Many wanna know who done this
Marky Mark and I’m here to move you
Rhymes will groove you
And I’m here to prove to you
That we can party on the positive side
And pump positive vibes
So come along for the ride
Making you feel the rhythm is my occupation
So feel the vibration

Come on come on
Feel it feel it
Feel the vibration”

(The comments aren’t showing up on this page, but they are going onto the post.  So click on “no comments” to read and write more song suggestions!)

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Young Adult Cookout last Sunday!  I thought it was an awesome get together.   A special thanks to Andrew Conard, who was the master griller.  Also thanks to everyone else who helped out.

Here are a few pictures.  You can find a bunch more on the Resurrection Young Adult Facebook Page

The Young Adult Worship Experience at Resurrection is a place where you can check out some great music, hear relevant teaching, and meet other young adults.

This monthly event will be held on Thursday July 24 at 7pm in Room 300.  For information about childcare, contact Lori Trupp (lori.trupp@cor.org) or if you have questions about the event, contact Nathan Webb (nathan.webb@cor.org).

The July Worship Experience will try to answer the question, “Why do we worship?”  This question will be answered through teaching, music, and interactive worship experiences.

Come check it out!

I just wanted to remind you all that we’ll be working at Central UMC Soup Kitchen in Kansas City, MO this Saturday, the 19th.  We have an amazing opportunity to serve the homeless and show God’s love in very practical ways.  We’ll be working with FaithWork again this month to serve in the community.  If you’re interested, drop me an email at nathan.webb@cor.org and then just show up Saturday morning at 9am in the Narthex of Resurrection.  I’m looking forward to serving with you this weekend!

Proverbs 22:9 – Generous hands are blessed hands because they give bread to the poor.

This Sunday night, the 13th, we’ll be having a Young Adult cookout after 5pm worship.  The cookout will be located on the lawn just to the north side of the East Bulding at Resurrection, right by 137th Street.  We will provide the burgers, hot dogs, and some ice cream for dessert.  All you need to bring is a lawn chair and a side dish or drinks.  There will be a volleyball net set up and there will also be some other games going on.

So, stop by and check it out.  You can never have too much BBQ, and this is great way to meet other young adults!  See you Sunday!

The best grill design I've ever seen...

I thought I should let you know that I started a personal blog today.  The new blog is called blogaliciousnathan.wordpress.com.   Feel free to stop by every once in awhile to check out my rambling.

I will most definately continue to blog about what is going on in Young Adult Ministry on this blog.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend!
